This week we will be working on the physical properties used to identify matter. Quick check on Tuesday with a quiz on Friday (including density word problems). Social Studies-Mr. Price, Ms. LT In Social Studies this week we will continue our study of the causes, events, and outcomes of the French Revolution. Students will take a French Revolution quiz on Monday. They are working on a French Revolution project that was assigned last Wednesday, October 11 and is due on Wednesday, October 25 (details are in Canvas assignments). Students will have and have had time every day in class to work on the project so that, if they work diligently, they should need to spend little or no time at home on this. Have a great week! Math-Ms. Caldwell, Ms. Jensen Both ADV and GL have a test on Tuesday. We will review on Monday. Wednesday thru Friday we will continue working on Expressions, Equations, and Inequalities. We will finish up the first 9 weeks with 7-2.5 The Enlightenment’s influence on the French and American Revolutions. Students should expect a minor assessment on Thursday. All first quarter re-takes and missing work must be completed/submitted by 10/13/17 (Friday). Science: Mr. Seabold Science is starting the Physical and Chemical Properties and Changes Unit. Students need to study their notes for homework, every day! Math: Ms. Caldwell, Ms. Jensen Adv = Solving multi-step equations with variables on both sides of the equation. There will be a quiz at the end of the week. GL = Beginning the algebra standards. Writing and simplifying algebraic expressions. ELA: Ms. Sessions, Mrs. Nettles, We will be working on reading texts more closely and working in our Reader's Notebooks. Students should be reading at LEAST 20 mins a night. SOCIAL STUDIES- Mrs. Love, Mrs. LT, Mr. Price: SS will begin standard 7-2, limited vs unlimited government MATH- Ms. Caldwell, Ms. Jensen, Mrs. Ramey: GL Math: Students will continue learning about operations with rational numbers. This week we will focus on subtracting rational numbers. ADV Math: Students will continue learning about operations with rational numbers. This week we will focus on multiplying and dividing rational numbers. Mrs. Lavender: Intensive Math class - We will continue working with rational numbers this week. We will be adding integers - whole numbers and decimals. ELA- Mrs. Nettles, Mrs. Jacobs, Ms. Sessions: ELA will be doing Language Usage MAP testing in class on TUESDAY. PLEASE remind your child to have their laptop fully charged for class. Wednesday and Thursday we will begin focusing on theme and central ideas. Friday, we are expecting a visit from the Rock Hill Public Library's Teen Librarian. Science:Inquiry test on Tuesday or Wednesday. Students should be studying the Inquiry notes.
Daily homework is to study the notes you have in your composition notebook. Social Studies: Social studies will wrap up 7-1.1, 7-1.2 and 7-1.5 notes by Wednesday and begin reviewing for our first test, which should be Thursday or Friday. Start reviewing your notes this weekend. Math: We will be reviewing conversions between percents, decimals, and fraction. GL quiz on Wednesday ADV quiz on Tuesday Then we will be introducing adding integers ELA: 7th grade ELA classes are getting started with Reading Workshop. They are learning the routines, expectations, and “how to’s” of daily Reading Workshop lessons. The students are excited about choosing reading materials and their first trip to the library next week to check out books. REMEMBER! Monday is a half day. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 for the solar eclipse.
ELA--We will be starting our Reader's Workshop on Tuesday. Please bring a 3 subject notebook by Tuesday. Math--GL- We will be starting with the Number System. A pre-test will be on Tuesday, followed by a review of rational numbers. On Wednesday and Thursday we will work on multiple representations of a number: percentages, decimal numbers, and fractions. Science Mr. Seabold: Human Body Review Math Ms. Dillingham, Ms. Jensen: Dillingham’s Math Classes Students will be reviewing to prepare for the math state assessment - SC READY which will be taken on May 11th. There will be practice on canvas under the SC READY Review Module that students can work through while at home to help with preparing for this state assessment. There will be daily graded assignments that if students do not finish in class, they will have to finish at home under this module. Students will have a test on Friday, May 5th over essential standards that the students have learned this school year. Topics for this test can be found under the SC READY Review Module on canvas titled Essential Learnings for SC READY. Please discuss with your student the importance of being prepared and focused every day as we prepare for SC READY the next week and a half.
