TBA ELA (Mrs. Nettles and Ms. Sessions) - We are still working on Uprising and Drummer Boy of Shiloh. ELA (Mrs. Grabb) - In ELA, we are working on independent reading projects, as well as persuasive writing. Math (Ms. Dillingham) - Advanced: Students will have a quiz on Monday for finding slope from various representations. Students will end the week this week with a major project grade creating a stained glass window by graphing equations in slope-intercept form. Grade Level: Students will begin the week with a major project grade using unit rate to determine what stores have better buys on specific products. Students will begin word problems on a Wednesday to help them learn how to set up proportions and solve them. Math (Mrs. Logan) - Advanced: Students will continue to review exponents and scientific notation to prepare for a major assessment on Tuesday. We will begin functions introduction this week. Grade Level: Students will begin the week with a major project grade using unit rate to determine what stores have better buys on specific products. Students will begin word problems on a Wednesday to help them learn how to set up proportions and solve them. Math (Mrs. Lavender) - We are studying expressions and equations. We will begin solving one-step equations this week. Please be sure your child has his/her school supplies (pencils) every day. Social Studies (Mr. Price and Mrs. LT) - We will start 7-4.3 The Great Depression on Monday. No tests scheduled this week.

TBA ELA (Mrs. Nettles and Ms. Sessions) - We will have a quiz on our informational texts from last week on Tuesday. We will begin reading literary texts focused on historical events on Wednesday, and have an ungraded common formative assessment on Literary texts on Friday. ELA (Mrs. Grabb) - In ELA we are working on independent reading projects, as well as persuasive writing. Math (Ms. Dillingham) - Advanced: Students will learn how to find the slope and y-intercept from multiple representations this week. There will be a quiz on finding the slope on Thursday of this week. Grade Level: Students learned proportional relationship last week. This week, students will learn the constant of proportionality and unit rate this week. There will be a quiz in class on Thursday on proportional relationships and the constant of proportionality. Tutoring times for all classes are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning beginning at 8am. Math (Mrs. Logan) - Advanced: Students had an exponent quiz last week. We will be re-teaching Exponents (quiz corrections Thursday), and beginning Scientific Notation. Exponents and Scientific Notation test will be next Tuesday (1/24/16). Please make sure you are practicing/reviewing notes every night. Grade Level: Students learned proportional relationship last week. Social Studies (Mrs. LT) - We will learn about the Treaty of Versailles (7-4.2) and will quiz on Friday. We will also complete a project in class this week on WWI and the Treaty of Versailles. **Please be sure your student has school supplies (pencil, paper, erasers)**
Science (Mr. Seabold) - This week in science we will be learning about the circulatory system and having a quick check by Thursday. ELA (Mrs. Nettles and Ms. Sessions) - Both grade level and advanced ELA classes are working on analyzing historical events by reading both informational text and literary text dealing with the events. Students will compare and contrast a literary depiction of a time, place or character to a historical account of the same period to understand how authors use or alter history for rhetorical effect. (Standard 7-RL.7.2) Grade level students will be reading both literary texts and informational texts describing the Triangle Fire, and advanced students will be reading selections related to the Underground Railroad and the Civil War. ELA (Mrs. Grabb) - This week we will begin independent reading on a weekly basis. Students will work on creating book talks from their independent reading and present those in class. Students will also work on learning argumentative writing techniques using text evidence to support their arguments. Math (Ms. Dillingham) - Advanced Math Class: Functions Test is Thursday, Jan. 12th Grade Level Math Classes: Ratio and Proportional Relationship Quiz is Friday, Jan. 13th Tutoring times for all classes are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning beginning at 8 AM.
